This journal belongs to the renegade mage, Rujillar. Most of the entries are uninteresting accounts of various personal affairs of his, including obscure magical experiments he conducted while he was still with the Ebon Claws. A few of the entries towards the end, however, catch your eye; Rujillar seems to have written them in the days leading up to and after his abandoning Altama and the wererats.
I am beginning to become disillusioned with the Ebon Claws. Altama's leadership grates on me, and she berated me earlier today for my experiments on the rats in the sewers, saying it would be bad for morale. She is holding me back - I will not stand for it. This is the second time in three days that she has put a stop to one of my experiments. I will not stand for it much longer...
... this is the final straw. Two men and a woman - nobles from Cormyr, if I heard Altama correctly, and members of some ill organization or another - arrived in our hideout today. Altama says we will be allying with them. Altama says, Altama says! I am downright sick of what Altama says! That, and there is something about that war wizard that accompanied the Fire Knives... I just don't trust her. I think that I will leave this wretched place tonight... perhaps I will take something with me to create a bit of a stir. It would serve that hag right... I think those plans of hers would do nicely. I saw her putting them away. Yes, I think I shall take them and go into hiding in the Harbor Loop. I shall finally be able to conduct my experiments in peace!
